Welcome Class of 2020: Sanganayi Creek

The Class of 2020’s journey kicked off at Sanganayi Creek with a dirty roll in sand and a two and a half kilometre walk to the campsite, all of which obligatory for each student. Upon arrival we were put into teams and yet still strangers, we managed to come up with team names, ‘War Cries’, Team Bible Verses as well as the team Captains and Vice-Captains. This camp was an exceptional way to get students to know and connect with each other in such a lively environment where not only the intellect was exercised, but also our survival skills and team work were put to the test.
It was a week full of vigor, vitality and vibrancy. Our days would start off with exercises and a morning run from as early as 4am after which, we shower, have breakfast, and then head for our morning devotions. As the day proceeded, we went through countless character and team building activities that include trust falls, BIG Foot race, swimming etc. We also had medical tests taken to ensure good monitoring of our health and ended the days with reflections and discussions.
We ended our Camp Week with an educational trip to the Chinhoyi Caves where learnt about the cultural history of the caves and had a chance to explore the beautiful scenery with our tour guides. Later in the afternoon we visited Mazvikadei Dam, took pictures at the dam wall and and marveled at its vast beauty. We spent the rest of the day on a 15km walk from the dam to our campsite where students continued to interact and bond. That night we had some entertainment over a bonfire before bed. The following morning we boarded the bus and left for our different campuses.
