Introduction to SLA

STAR Leadership Academy (SLA) is an intensive educational and experiential learning program that provides African students with critical leadership skills, challenges their identity, improves their cultural awareness and builds a commitment to servant leadership and nation building. The STAR Leadership Academy aims to engage, develop, train, and inspire participants in preparation of taking personal and community-wide action to address issues facing the continent of Africa. The program is designed to create strong leaders with a remarkable work ethic and the ability to tackle complex problems, find solutions and most of all create sustainable livelihoods for themselves and others.

Defining STAR Leadership

SERVANT LEADERSHIP
Exposing young leaders to a culture that teaches them to put the needs of others before their own while expressing ambition, vision and desire towards a meaningful cause.

TENACITY
Great leaders are identified by the value they put into the process of achieving a goal. SLA trains young leaders to push beyond what they think they are capable of doing.

ACCOUNTABILITY
Thriving to raise African leaders who stand by the outcomes of their choices, decisions, behaviours and actions in all situations or circumstances they are involved in.

RESPONSIBILITY
Developing positive change makers who are willing to take blames and find ways to construct sustainable solutions for the betterment of our African societies.

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” - John Quincy Adams

“The pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The leader adjusts the sails.” - John Maxwell
