STAR Leadership Academy student scoops an award at the 2019 Zimbabwe Science Fair

The STAR Leadership Academy at Gateway attended the 2019 Zimbabwe Science Fair that took place on the 27th of February, at the ZESA Training Centre in Harare. The Zimbabwe Schools Science Fair is a platform that provides research and technology, which encourages Zimbabwean students and youths to come up with inventions, innovations and research projects to meaningfully contribute to the development of communities; and to advance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education.

Youths from primary and secondary schools grabbed this opportunity to showcase their innovations with prototypes of projects that they believe will change the world and make it a favourable place. We are proud that one of our students Vinlaw Mudehwe competed and scooped an award for his amazing project, which aimed at improving the lives of people using technology.

“If we embrace technology and be optimistic enough, we can make Zimbabwe a better place, not just for us but even for generations to come.” – Vinlaw encouraged after receiving his award.

Our pillar of Community & Social Entrepreneurship was emphasized during the event, as the majority of the students demonstrated projects that address the needs of the communities and create impact. This fair was an eye opener to the STAR students as it marked the beginning of a practical leadership journey.

The S.T.A.R Leadership Academy is on a mission to raise young African future leaders who can change communities and impact lives. It is a full year intensive leadership program that immerses young people in a world-class leadership curriculum, whilst ensuring a balanced physical and spiritual health.
